She smiled at me
My stomach jumped with great amusement
Tears rolled down my cheeks
I had so many questions
But my mind froze in adoration
A gift so rare it lit up the room with tears of joy
I had been anxious to get back home for two months,
Not for my sister but for this new life
Her tinny fingers wrapped my thump
Her heartbeat in the palm of hands
Fancy little voices
Something so adorable and pure of heart
Gifted to us
She laughed hard at everything
The silly faces I made
The crazy sounds I made
The animal acts
It made me realize I must have been too serious
With my life
Somehow it took away my sadness
Slowly being cleansed by this little one
Unaware the great power she has
A blessing of a new life
