Psalm 42:8 [NIV] — “By day the LORD directs His love, at night His song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life [El Hayyay].”

Adoration
El Hayyay, by day You direct Your love, and at night Your song is with me. You are the God of my life. You direct my steps according to Your will and desire. You cause me to walk on firm footing. When it is dark, You light the way and give comfort. At times I cannot see the beauty stretching out before me because my eyes are dulled by darkness. But in those times, You ask me to have faith in You, to cling to Your Word that when the sun rises, I will see the greatness of Your goodness in my life.

Confession
El Hayyay, You know that I have questioned more than I should have. I have asked to see the end when I don’t trust the means You are using in my life. I have doubted Your heart when I couldn’t see Your hand or when Your ways seemed confusing. Forgive me for not resting in Your name, El Hayyay, the God of my life, and for trying to be in charge of my life myself. Pardon my impetuous spirit.

Thanksgiving
El Hayyay, I thank You for truly being the God of my life. You know me better than anyone else could ever know me. What’s more, You are authentic in Your care. You have no hidden motives for uncovering who I am, so I thank You for Your love— so real, so kind, so deep. Thank You, El Hayyay, for guiding me and directing my steps. Thank You for speaking to me when I seek You and Your way. Thank You for being El Hayyay.

Supplication
El Hayyay, the God of my life, be very close to me. Open my ears to hear You. Soften my heart to discern Your Spirit. Help my eyes to recognize when You are weaving something new in my life. Turn my frustration and anger away from people who seem to be obstacles in my life, El Hayyay, and help me to remember You are sovereign. Nothing happens to me that doesn’t first pass through Your hands. Kings see You and bow down. I pray that each moment I will honor You and live in that same spirit of humility before the God who knows what steps I should take and who guides me.
