“Pruning”.
It’s been some intense days, weeks and months. Heck, years. I believe I wrote about this already, haha. But oh my goodness, every time I believe God is done, He keeps revealing another plot to the story. To My story. His story for me. The one He carefully wrote for me. My God is an amazing, awesome, magnificent God and I want to spend the rest of my life making that clear to everyone that I may meet on my path.
So recently God revealed my call to be a missionary to me. It’s a beautiful story and revelation, which I will leave for another blog post. With that revelation first came sets of tears, then an obvious and needless to say Yes, and from that Yes on an overflow of confirmations, opportunities and guidance that lead me to leaving my comfort zone.
I’ve shared before that I love the phrase “get comfortable with being uncomfortable”, but I guess that after being uncomfortable in a spot it makes you somewhat “comfortable” or familiar or content. And so, new un-comfortabilities appear, every time making you uncomfortable again. Reminding you, that the comfort zone is not for you to stay in. There is more left to grow, to learn… to prune.
My flesh is doing its best to run away. To get distracted, finding other things to do. Trying to run from responsibilities by finding other responsibilities that are not a priority. Trying to get back to wanting to know what people think. My flesh is weak. But my God? My Saviour, my Rabbi, my Teacher, my Example, my Rock, my Perfecter of Faith… He is strong. And as I am trying to calm my head down, looking inward and asking the Holy Spirit, what is this? He says, Pruning.
Christ is calling me to stay in Him. To keep my eyes fixed on Him as I take each step, run this race, walk on water. And as He prunes me. Cuts off all the branches, leaves, buds and twigs that are obstructing me to grow.
I need just to stay in Him. Remain in Him. Abide in Him.
John 15:5-11 [HCSB] — “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown aside like a branch and he withers. They gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be My disciples. As the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you. Remain in My love. If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love. I have spoken these things to you so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.”
