I’d been avoiding to start rewatching The Chosen again. I had started twice with my crew (young adults church group) and stopped twice as well, because… life? We kept finding it harder and harder to plan a day again to continue the watch, due to work, vacations, you know… life? But oh my, oh my, this series has been calling me for a while now to restart again. Forget with whom you can start watching it again, just start. And so I finally did.

Season 1, episode 1.

Yes, I cried. Let’s start there.

How fascinating and soul-penetrating it is to see that Jesus is with us throughout our lives. Every second, He is there, He has seen, and He has waited patiently for us to answer His call. For us to follow the bird, the significant sign, He sends us. Each their own unique sign. His unique whisper. How He has waited patiently to lovingly tell us what is not for us. To call us by our true name possibly unknown to the people around us. To recite to us, tell us something only our deepest thoughts and traumas could know.

Isaiah 43:1 [HCSB] — “Now this is what the Lord says — the One who created you, Jacob, and the One who formed you, Israel  — ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.‘”

Our past doesn’t matter. Where we’ve been, what we have done. Who we were. Where we are. How we are struggling right now. Suffering, suffocating, and finding no way out of our current overbearing darkness. None of it matters. There is no-one He cannot redeem. So, fear not. He calls you by your name. You are His.

Answer the call. Accept the embrace.

You are His.
