In this episode I have a conversation with Mamadu Seide, from the Tabanane village in Guinea Bissau. Which is where I was in the month of May for two weeks. Mamadu was practically my right hand during my days working in the village as a missionary midwife. As the language spoken in the village is Fula, and I don’t know how to speak it, Mamadu was also my translator. He patiently showed me around the village, explained things I needed to know about their culture and customs, and we shared many meals accompanied by laughs. Mamadu is so eager to learn that we spent my last night going over functions of medication and recognizing signs and symptoms of ailments. As when the team leaves, only Mamadu stays and functions as nurse and doctor for the people living in his village. Get to know Mamadu a little bit as we talk about being diarrhea friends, his dream, telenovelas, music by Ivandro and the beautiful Fula language.
