What to do with all the pruned debris and pulled out weeds from when Nurturing My Heart’s Garden? Well… we have a bonfire!
A marvellous, a wonderful, a heart-warming bonfire. A fire that keeps growing as I continue to throw debris on the bundle.
Cleaning and clearing are so satisfying. I love organising, but my goodness, I think I love the freeing feeling of removing clutter more. This process of tending and nurturing my heart’s garden started out being a bit painful, or uncomfortable. But as I continued, it started getting easier and easier. I’m sharper and better at recognising what does not belong. I prune without thinking twice. And I’m dancing in the garden as I pick and pluck dry branches, crispy leaves and neighbour-killing weeds. I hold them in both arms, hugging the clutter and smiling as I throw more on the pile. Each time an amount lands, lit pieces of orange go up, and the fire becomes bigger. Warming up my heart more and more.
Never has the smell of ash and smoke smelled so good. So freeing. And oh so very fresh.
We’re not done yet. God and I are not done yet. As I pray Psalm 51:10 over my heart, I continue to remove, unpluck and swing on top of the flickering fire. This smouldering pyre. Enjoying the cleanse in my heart’s garden, enjoying each step I take and enjoying the sunset-coloured-heat on my face of this glowing garden waste.
Psalms 51:10 [HCSB] — “God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
