Soo, I started watching Manifest on Netflix and in the third season, oh wait: SPOILER ALERT! Ok, so in the third season.. Zeke becomes an empath. He possesses the psionic ability to sense the emotions of others. He feels what others feel. In this scene he felt how this older dementing lady felt in a moment of confusion and disorientation and so decided to be kind to her. To be nice and understanding.

Is that a superpower now?

At least that’s how they portrayed it. But, why? They know we can just be kind right? That we can all choose to be an empath and try to feel what the other is feeling. We can all try to understand for one and other, whatever another person is going through. Try and stand in their shoes and maybe take only a couple of steps of the miles and miles they walked in them. You know it’s a choice right? It’s not a superpower, nope, it’s a choice.

Yes, it takes some practice. Sure, some experience too. But it’s still a choice if you do so or not. You choose to understand, choose to sense one’s emotion and choose to react on those feelings. It’s a choice to be kind, gentle and loving.

So, which superpower do you choose today?

John 13:34-35 [HCSB] – “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Mark 12:29-31 [HCSB] – “This is the most important,” Jesus answered: Listen, Israel! The Lord  our God, the Lord  is One. Love  the Lord your God  with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind,  and with all your strength. The second is: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”
