Just a short reflection on this part of the verse:
1 Corinthians 15:36 [HCSB] — “What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.”
1 Corinthians 15:36 [CEV] — “A seed must die before it can sprout from the ground.”
Paul was talking about the resurrection there. Also that we’re not planting our future body, but only a seed. And that we don’t know what we sow, how it will grow and how it will be. But aside from his explanation, this verse made me think of another point of view.
We are created by God, sown by Christ (when we meet Him, know Him, believe in Him, choose to follow and serve Him) and then we die, to come alive. We must die, to come back alive as our new self. Our old ways or our old self must die — that’s the seed — for then our new ways or new self to sprout and come alive — germination. It’s the way of Life.
Romans 6:4 [HCSB] — “Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life.”
